1. Introduction

This quick'n'dirty hack calculates the d1/d2-coefficients of tracksections.

2. Installation

Download TrkCalc: Click here!
Make a folder (for example C:\Programs\TrkCalc) and unzip TrkCalc.exe into that folder.
TrkCalc needs VisualBasic-runtime-files to be installed on your computer. You can download them by clicking this link. If the link is broken, go to the Microsoft homepage and search the download-area for "visual basic runtime". Another way is to search at Yahoo, Altavista or whatever your favourite search-engine is.

3. Usage

After having been started, the program will look like this:

Make your inputs in the upper field of the window. All numbers are in track units ('decimal' in GPLTrk), except for gradients, which are in degrees. When you're done, press the "Calculate"-button. You can then browse through the sections with "Previous" and "Next", assuming, you have set the "No. of sections"-value greater than 1.
TrkCalc is mainly useful if you want to make a continuous gradient change over more than one section. Example: You have a section that is 500 m in length and you want to change the gradient from 0 at the start of the section to 10 at the end of the section in order to make a smooth transition from a flat part of your track to a hillclimb. Now for some reason, you want to divide that section into smaller parts of say 100 m. No problem with TrkCalc. Enter 500 m in track-units as the "Length", the height at the end of the previous section as "Height at start", 0 as "Start gradient", 10 as "End gradient", 5 as "No. of sections", click on "Calculate" and have fun typing in the numbers ;) (we are stupid masochists, aren't we?).

4. History, Bugs & Fixes

Little history, heaps of bugs and no fixes yet. So what?

5. Thx!

I have to thank all of these people without whom this program would not exist:

- All GPLlers out there
for being the f***ing best community ever ;)!

- My lovely wife Erika
for being so patient with me and my hobby. I love you!
